Unity for Democracy and Secular Republic in Iran

Twenty-four years after the Revolution of February 1979, and establishment of the theocratic “Islamic Republic of Iran” in our homeland, a number of Iranians have come together to form the “Unity for Democracy and Secular Republic in Iran”. Goals of this coalition are reflected in ten articles of the Unity, which so far has been signed by more than a thousand Iranians. In summary these articles are based on principles of a Pluralistic republic, Parliamentary democracy, Separation of religion and state, and Non-violent approach to establish a new system of government in Iran that adheres to equal rights for all based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The “Unity for Democracy and Secular Republic in Iran” has the support of significant number of Iranians from various segments of the society, among them intellectuals inside and outside Iran, independent political individuals as well as civil institutions.

We invite you to be with us in these exciting months to come and watch us grow. If you are interested in these developments and in the process of establishment of our coalition and would like to have further communication with us, please do not hesitate to contact us at international@jomhouri.com.

With kind regards and in solidarity,
